What happened

Backpack blowers from five manufacturers are being recalled because their fuel tanks can leak, which creates a fire hazard and risk of burn injuries. The recalled models are the Husqvarna 155BT and 155BF (sold June 1998 through June 2001), John Deere UT 26113, UT08093, and UT08104 (sold January 1998 through April 2001), Makita RBL500 (sold March 1997 through January 2001), Carswell FL500 (sold December 1996 through June 2001), and Tilton TB50 (sold August 2000 through May 2001).

Consumers who own a recalled blower should stop using it immediately and contact the manufacturer for a free repair. To determine if a blower is part of the recall, consumers should check the brand name, model number, and serial number on the unit and have the serial number available when contacting the manufacturer.
