What happened

Reed & Barton has recalled Powerscourt Sterling Teething Rings (model #WX201) because flux used in the soldering process where the ring halves join together can irritate the skin or mouths of young children. The recalled teething ring is approximately 2.5 inches in diameter, made of sterling silver with two halves soldered together at a decorative sterling silver disc, and has "Waterford® Sterling" embossed on the bottom. The model number can be found on a label on the outside of the gift box along with "Waterford Fine Silver Gifts."

Consumers who own this teething ring should immediately remove it from children and return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund. Purchasers who are known to have bought this product have been notified of the recall by direct mail.

Hazard

The area where the teething ring is soldered together contains flux, which can irritate the skin or mouths of young children.

What should I do?

Consumers should take these teething rings away from children immediately and return the rings to the store where purchased, for a refund. Known purchasers were sent direct mail notification of this recall.

Powerscourt Sterling Teething Rings, model #WX201. The model number is located on a label on the outside of the gift box, along with "Waterford Fine Silver Gifts." The silver teething ring is about 2.5 inches in diameter, and made of two halves that are soldered together at a sterling silver decorative disc. The teething ring is sold as a keepsake, but also could be used as a teething ring. Waterford® Sterling is embossed on the bottom of the teething ring.
