John Deere and the CPSC have announced a recall of certain LT series lawn tractors because their fuel tanks can crack and leak fuel, creating a fire hazard and risk of burn injuries. The affected models are the LT 133A, LT 155B, LT 155C, LT 166E, LT 166F, LT 166G, and LT 166J, which are green with yellow trim and have 38", 42" or 48" mower decks with 13 to 16 horsepower engines. The model number and serial number can be found on the hood and on a plate in front of the seat, respectively.
Consumers who own a recalled tractor should stop using it immediately and contact their nearest John Deere dealer to arrange for a free replacement fuel tank to be installed.
