Salsa Cycles Recalls Bicycle Forks Due to Risk of Fall Hazard

Is my product affected?

Salsa Bearpaw Bicycle Forks

  • Brand Salsa Cycles, a wholly-owned brand of Quality Bicycle Products Inc., of Bloomington, Minn.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Salsa Cycles is recalling all aluminum Salsa Bearpaw forks that were sold separately and on Mukluk bicycles because the forks can bend or break, creating a fall hazard for riders. The recalled forks have one of three specific date codes (20130524, 20130710, or 20130826) stamped on the fork steerer, followed by "CWI2201BAN2" and a Salsa compass graphic on the bend of the fork blades. The forks were available in tequila lime with black paint, metallic gold, red and black, and the bicycles came in x-small through x-large sizes.

If you own an affected bicycle, you should immediately stop using it and contact a Salsa dealer for a free inspection and replacement fork. To identify your fork, you may need to disassemble the front of the bicycle to access the steerer tube where the date code and model information are located.
