Calphalon has recalled XL 9 speed blenders, model 1832449 (also identified as model ME600BL), because a piece of the mixing blade unit can break off during use and cause injury. The recalled blender has a brushed-aluminum base with cord storage, nine black and white speed selectors, a power button, a clear 56-ounce glass pitcher with measurement markings, a black plastic lid with a removable measuring cup, and a metal blade assembly with six-sided stainless steel blades. The model number can be found on the underside of the blender's base.

According to the recall, consumers who own this blender should immediately stop using it and contact Calphalon for a free repair kit.
