What happened

Southern Telecom is recalling A/C adaptors sold with Polaroid PMID709 seven-inch Internet tablets, which were sold exclusively at Big Lots. The adaptors can overheat and pose a fire hazard. The recalled adaptor is a two-prong charger with a wire and single plug for the tablet, labeled "Polaroid Power Adaptor" with model number SX-30017-D on the bottom of the casing.

Customers who have this adaptor should immediately stop using it and contact Southern Telecom for a free replacement. Southern Telecom will provide an envelope with the replacement adaptor for returning the recalled product.

The recalled adaptor, also commonly referred to as a charger, was included with the Polaroid PMID709 seven inch Internet tablet (also known as the PMID709KB). The adaptor has two prongs for plugging into an outlet on one end and a wire leading to a single plug for the tablet. A label on the bottom of the casing near the plug prongs has "Polaroid Power Adaptor" printed on it with the model number SX-30017-D.
