The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Tanaka have announced a recall of several Tanaka hedge trimmer and auger models due to fuel tank vents that can leak, creating a fire hazard. The recalled products are orange with black handles and bear the Tanaka name and model number on the recoil starter cover. The recall affects specific serial number ranges for five hedge trimmer models (THT-2100, THT-2120, THT-2510, THT-2520, and THT-2540) and one auger model (TIA-340), with serial numbers printed on labels on the side of the engine.
If you own one of the recalled products, you should stop using it immediately and take it to any authorized Tanaka service dealer for a free repair. The equipment will be fitted with a redesigned fuel tank to address the leaking fuel tank vent issue.
