Fresh Food Manufacturing of Freedom, Pennsylvania is recalling approximately 1,008 pounds of Italian Style Wedding Soup sold under the iGIANT EAGLE MARKET DISTRICT label in 24-ounce cups. The soup contains soy and egg, which are known allergens not declared on the product label. The mislabeling occurred because the ingredients panel on the back of the soup cup was from a chili product the company also produces, and that chili label does not list soy and egg. The affected product was produced on October 9, 2014, and distributed to retail stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The recall was discovered when a store employee noticed the back label differed from other labels on the product.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has received no reports of adverse reactions from consumption of this product. WASHINGTON, Oct. 14, 2014 Fresh Food Manufacturing, a Freedom, Pa., establishment, is recalling approximately 1,008 pounds of Italian Style Wedding Soup due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The soup contains soy and egg, known allergens which are not declared on the product label. The following product is subject to recall: 24-oz. cups of iGIANT EAGLE MARKET DISTRICT ITALIAN STYLE WEDDING SOUP.” The ingredients panel on the back of the soup cup is from a chili product that the company also produces at the facility. The chili label does not list soy and egg, which are ingredients in the Italian Style Wedding Soup. The product subject to recall bears the establishment number iEST. 40211” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The product was produced on Oct. 9, 2014, and shipped to retail stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The problem was discovered when a store employee noticed that the back label was different from the other labels on the product. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
