What happened

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2022 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles because the electronic parking brake may not engage when the vehicle is turned off, potentially causing the vehicle to roll away and increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicles do not comply with federal safety standards for air brake systems and electronic stability control systems on heavy vehicles.

Owners who received notification letters mailed on March 9, 2023, should contact DNTA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to schedule service. Dealers will install a fused harness overlay at no charge to remedy the issue. Customers can reference recall number FL-945 when contacting the manufacturer.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The electronic parking brake may not engage when the vehicle is keyed off, which may result in a vehicle rollaway. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 121, "Air Brake Systems," and 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."
