What happened

Sumitomo Rubber Industries is recalling certain Sumitomo and Falken brand tires due to a potential deformation near the tire bead that could cause bead separation. This defect increases the risk of a crash and violates federal tire safety standards.

If you own one of the affected tires, Sumitomo will replace them for free. The company mailed notification letters to owners on June 7, 2022. To arrange a replacement or confirm whether your tires are affected, contact Sumitomo customer service at 1-800-845-8378.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (Sumitomo) is recalling certain Sumitomo and Falken tires. Please refer to the recall report for specific tire information. A deformation may occur in the tires near the bead, which could result in bead separation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires-Other Than Passenger Cars."
