2021 CADILLAC ESCALADE NA
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
General Motors is recalling certain 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV vehicles because the front passenger seat belt and airbag status telltale lights in the overhead console may become invisible during daytime hours. This occurs when the vehicle is started using remote start or when it is turned off and restarted after approximately ten minutes without opening the door, as the lights may be set to "night mode." If these warning lights are not visible, drivers and front passengers may not know whether the front passenger is unbuckled or has a deactivated airbag, which increases the risk of passenger injury in a crash.
To fix this issue, General Motors dealers will update the body control module software free of charge, or owners may receive an over-the-air update. The recall began on February 1, 2021. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, and should reference GM recall number N202319980.
