What happened

Toyota Motor Corporation is recalling certain 2017-2020 Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to a defect in the low-pressure fuel pump located inside the fuel tank. If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while the vehicle is being driven, which increases the risk of a crash. The recalled vehicles include multiple Toyota models (4Runner, Avalon, Corolla, Highlander, Camry, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, RAV4, Sequoia, Sienna, and Tundra) and numerous Lexus models (ES350, GS, LC, LS, GX, IS, LX, RC, RX, NX, and UX) from model years 2017 through 2020.

Toyota will notify affected owners and replace the fuel pump assembly with an improved version at no cost through authorized dealers. Owners of some models were notified that repair parts became available starting January 21, 2021, while owners of other models will be notified as parts become available, with all remedy parts expected to be available by late March 2021. Owners can contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987 for more information about their specific vehicle.
