What happened

Yokohama Tire Corporation is recalling certain Yokohama brand tires across multiple models and sizes due to a manufacturing defect that can cause the tire tread or bead to detach. This defect can result in a sudden loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash. The affected tires include RY023, RY617, TY517 MC2, TY527, 712L, 709ZL, LY053, 109L, 108R, and 715R models in various sizes, with specific manufacturing date codes ranging from February 2020 through June 2020.

Yokohama will notify owners of affected tires, and dealers will replace the recalled tires free of charge. The recall began on March 23, 2020. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Yokohama customer service at 1-800-423-4544 to arrange for tire replacement.
