What happened

Yokohama Tire Corporation is recalling certain 7.50R16 RY215 tires manufactured between January 1, 2006, and August 1, 2011. These tires are missing required markings including the "DOT" prefix, load and inflation information, and structural ply details, which violates federal safety standards. Without these markings, owners may overload the tires, potentially causing tire failure and increasing crash risk.

Yokohama will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected tires free of charge, with the recall expected to begin by late November 2013. Owners of affected tires should contact Yokohama at 1-800-423-4544.

Yokohama Tire Corporation (Yokohama) is recalling certain 7.50R16 RY215 tires manufactured January 1, 2006, through August 1, 2011. These tires are missing the "DOT" prefix, the required load/inflation information and do not list the material and number of structural plies. Thus, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, No. 119, "New Pneumatic Tires for Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) and Motorcycles."
