What happened

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain 2019 and 2020 model vehicles equipped with the Driver Assistance Package, including various C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS, AMG GT, GLC, and GLE models. The recall affects the Active Brake Assist system, which may not automatically apply partial or full braking as expected due to a software error in the radar sensor control unit, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will update the radar sensor control unit software at no cost. The recall began September 13, 2019. Affected owners should contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2019080008 to schedule a service appointment for the software update.
