What happened

Helmet City, Inc. is recalling certain HCI 100 matt black motorcycle helmets in size XL because they may not adequately protect the wearer's head in the event of a crash impact. The helmets also fail to display the month and year of manufacture as required by federal safety standards.

If you own one of these recalled helmets, you should contact Helmet City customer service at 1-888-550-3731. The company will notify owners and provide either a replacement helmet or a credit toward a replacement helmet at no charge, with the recall beginning in August 2019.

Hazard

A helmet that does not adequately protect the wearer from an impact can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

HCI will notify owners, and will provide replacement helmets or give the consumer a credit for a replacement helmet, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in August 2019. Owners may contact Helmet City customer service at 1-888-550-3731.

Darsan Trading Co. (Darsan), dba as Helmet City, is recalling certain HCI 100 matt black motorcycle helmets in size XL. These helmets may not adequately protect the wearer in the event of a head impact during a motorcycle crash. Additionally, the helmets do not list the month and year of manufacturer. As such, these equipment fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
