What happened

Navistar is recalling certain 2019 International trucks and buses equipped with long stroke brake chambers and spring actuated parking brakes. The spring actuated parking brake may be improperly crimped to the brake chamber, which can cause an air leak or separation of the spring brake chamber from the service brake section. This defect can increase the stopping distance needed, raising the risk of a crash.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Navistar, and dealers will replace the brake chamber assemblies from the suspected lot at no charge. The recall began October 23, 2018. Owners should contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 18512.
