What happened

BMW is recalling certain 2018 BMW X3 xDrive30i and X3 M40i vehicles because the rear turn signals flash multiple colors simultaneously—red on the outboard side panel and amber on the inboard signals at the same time. This non-compliant lighting pattern may confuse other drivers on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

BMW will notify owners of affected vehicles, and authorized dealers will inspect the rear turn signal lights and replace them if necessary at no cost to the owner. The recall began August 20, 2018. Affected consumers should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
