Spartan Motors USA is recalling certain 1991-2018 Utilimaster Aeromaster and Walk-In Vans because the front seat belts lack retractors that are required to accommodate occupants of different sizes. Without these retractors, occupants may not be properly restrained during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The vehicles do not comply with federal safety standards for occupant crash protection.
Spartan will notify owners and install replacement seat belts with retractors at no charge. The recall began August 6, 2018. Affected consumers should contact Spartan customer service at 1-800-582-3454 and reference recall number 18019 to schedule the free installation.

Spartan Motors USA (Spartan) is recalling certain 1991-2018 Utilimaster Aeromaster and Walk-In Vans. These vehicles were manufactured with front seat belts that do not have an emergency locking seat belt retractor or automatic locking seat belt retractor. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
