Tremcar is recalling certain 2008-2017 Hutchinson and Tremcar 406 B-train Pups, 2012-2017 Hutchinson and Tremcar 406 2 Axle Semi-Trailers, 2015-2017 Tremcar 406 3 Axle Semi-Trailers, and 2013 Tremcar 406 Quad Wagon vehicles. The rear impact guards on these vehicles were manufactured with aluminum alloy of insufficient strength, which may not adequately reduce the possibility of a car traveling under the trailer during a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the car driver. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 223 regarding rear impact guards.
Tremcar will replace the rear impact guards on affected vehicles free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2017. Affected consumers should contact Tremcar customer service at 1-800-363-2158 to arrange for the replacement of their rear impact guard.
