What happened

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain 2016 G550 4MATIC and G63 AMG vehicles because the cable connecting the inner door handle to the door lock may break if the door is difficult to release, such as after a crash. If this cable breaks, occupants may be unable to open the doors from inside the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

MBUSA will notify owners and replace the defective cable on all four doors at no cost. The recall began on April 28, 2017. Affected consumers should contact Mercedes-Benz customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
