What happened

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain model year 2008-2017 Mercedes-Benz vehicles because control units in these vehicles may have been updated with incorrect software that could affect whether the front air bags deploy properly during a crash. If the air bags do not deploy as intended, occupants would face an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. The affected vehicles include multiple models such as the C300, E350, S550, GLC300, CLA250, and others across various model years.

MBUSA will notify owners of the recall, which began April 21, 2017. Dealers will update the software in the affected control units at no charge to owners. Owners of potentially affected vehicles should contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
