McLaren Automotive is recalling certain 2012 MP4-12C vehicles originally sold or registered in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These vehicles have passenger frontal air bag inflators that may rupture during a crash due to propellant degradation caused by long-term exposure to humidity and temperature changes. A rupture could send metal fragments toward vehicle occupants, causing serious injury or death.

McLaren will notify owners of the recall, which began November 13, 2017, and dealers will replace the air bag inflators at no charge. Affected owners should contact McLaren customer service at 1-646-429-8916 to arrange the replacement.
