What happened

Ducati North America is recalling certain 2016-2017 XDiavel motorcycles manufactured between July 7, 2015, and June 22, 2016, due to a defective side stand. The lower fastening screw on the side stand plate may not be properly tightened, which can cause the stand to fail and the motorcycle to fall over. This same loosening can also damage the side stand sensor switch during normal road use, potentially causing the engine to stall.

To address this issue, Ducati will notify owners and authorized dealers will replace the side stand pivot and side stand plate fastening screw at no charge. Affected owners should contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696 to arrange service. The recall began November 7, 2016, and is identified as recall number RCL-16-003(B).
