Hyundai is recalling certain 2016 Sonata vehicles manufactured between March 28, 2016 and April 12, 2016 due to a defective driver-side frontal air bag. The air bag may not adequately protect the driver's neck from injury in a crash, which means these vehicles do not meet federal safety standards for occupant protection.
If you own an affected vehicle, Hyundai will notify you and replace the driver's frontal air bag module at no cost. To arrange service or determine if your vehicle is included in this recall, you should contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151 and reference recall number 148.

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Sonata vehicles manufactured March 28, 2016 through April 12, 2016. The affected vehicles have a driver-side frontal air bag that may not adequately protect the driver's neck from injury in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
