Hyundai is recalling certain 2016 Tucson vehicles equipped with an accessory trailer hitch harness that were manufactured between May 26, 2015 and January 15, 2016. The defect causes the trailer's turn signal lights to either turn off or remain continuously illuminated instead of flashing when the turn signal is activated while the engine is running and brake lights are on, preventing proper communication of the driver's turning intent and increasing crash risk.
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will update the tow hitch harness at no charge. The recall began on May 2, 2016. Affected owners should contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9640, referencing recall number 142.
