What happened

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2017 Coachmen Freedom Express recreational vehicles manufactured between May 16, 2016, and July 19, 2016. The affected models are FET28SE, FET282BHDS, FET282BHDSLE, FET281RLDS, FET281RLDSLE, FET29SE, FET292BHDS, and FET292BHDSLE. These vehicles may have insufficient space between the slideroom driveshaft and the driver's side tires, which can cause the tires to rub against the driveshaft and potentially fail, leading to loss of control and increased crash risk.

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles at no cost. The recall began on August 25, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8205 and reference recall number 220-07192016-0229.
