What happened

Pierce Manufacturing is recalling certain 2015-2016 Pumper and Tanker trucks built on Freightliner chassis that were manufactured between September 27, 2014, and June 14, 2016. These vehicles were modified with extended bumpers that require additional side marker lights due to the increased vehicle length. However, the affected vehicles do not have the necessary amount of side marker lights, which means they fail to meet federal safety standards for lighting. Without proper side marker lights, other drivers may have reduced visibility of these vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Pierce has notified vehicle owners of this recall and is offering a free remedy. Dealers will install the required side marker lamps at no charge to owners. According to the record, owners should contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 to arrange the repair. The recall began on August 15, 2016, and Pierce's reference number for this recall is 74B275.
