What happened

Pierce Manufacturing is recalling certain 2015-2016 Arrow XT, Enforcer, Quantum, Saber, Velocity, and Commercial emergency vehicles equipped with Hale pressure relief valves in their water pumps. The rings that secure these valves can corrode over time when exposed to water, which may cause the ring to fail and allow the pressure relief valve to open unexpectedly. When this happens, the water pressure available for fire fighting is reduced, which could hinder fire fighting efforts and increase the risk of injury.

Pierce has notified owners of the affected vehicles, and dealers will install a remedy kit at no charge to address the problem. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 or Hale Products at 1-800-533-3569 to arrange the installation of the remedy kit. The recall identification number is 74B287.
