What happened

Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. is recalling certain 2014-2016 Igniter vehicles manufactured between January 1, 2014, and May 2, 2016, that are equipped with specific Class 1 ES-KEY power control modules made by Hale Products. These power control modules may not provide adequate circuit protection due to their combination of software and installation, which could cause a short circuit. A short circuit may damage electrical system components and cause loss of headlights, increasing crash risk, or it may increase the risk of fire in the vehicle.

Ferrara will notify owners about the recall, and authorized dealers will upgrade the software and/or retrofit fuses at no cost to owners. The recall began on August 26, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Ferrara customer service at 1-225-567-7100 to arrange service.

Hazard

A short circuit may result in damage to components of the vehicle's electrical system, affecting their function, such as causing a loss of headlights, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. A short circuit may also increase the risk of a fire.
