Harley-Davidson is recalling certain 2016 model year motorcycles because the clutch master cylinder may lose the ability to fully disengage the clutch, particularly if the motorcycle has been parked for an extended period. When the engine is running and the motorcycle is in gear, if the clutch cannot fully disengage, the motorcycle may move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall affects 15 specific models including the Electric Glide Ultra Classic, Street Glide, Road Glide, Fat Boy S, and Softail Slim S, among others.
Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the clutch master cylinder for gas in the fluid at no charge. If gas is found, the dealer will flush the clutch system and rebuild the clutch master cylinder. The recall began July 19, 2016. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464, and the recall number is 0169.
