2014 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE; 2014 MASERATI GHIBLI
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Maserati is recalling certain 2014 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured between June 1, 2013, and February 28, 2014, that are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and monostable gear selector. These vehicles may incorrectly display the transmission gear position, potentially causing drivers to believe the vehicle is in PARK when it is actually in another gear. The vehicles also may fail to adequately warn drivers when the driver's door opens while the vehicle is not in PARK.
This defect creates a risk that drivers could exit the vehicle while the engine is running and the parking brake is not engaged, potentially resulting in being struck by the moving vehicle and injured. Maserati will repair the vehicles by performing a free software update at authorized dealers. Owners received an interim notification in the mail on July 1, 2016, and will receive a second notice when the software update becomes available. Affected owners should contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 for more information.
