What happened

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2017 Freightliner Cascadia, 122SD, Western Star 4900SA and 4900FA, and FCCC XCM and XCP trucks manufactured between March 14, 2016, and May 18, 2016. These trucks are equipped with Cummins ISX12 or ISX15 engines with certain engine control modules (ECM) that may experience an internal electrical short, causing a fuse to blow and resulting in an unexpected engine stall without the ability to restart the engine, which increases crash risk.

To remedy the problem, Cummins will notify owners and Cummins dealers will install a new ECM and correct ECM calibrations at no charge. The recall began on July 8, 2016. Owners of affected trucks should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-343-7357. DTNA's reference number for this recall is FL-715.
