What happened

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2015-2016 FCCC model trucks manufactured between May 1, 2014, and June 16, 2015, that are equipped with specific ZF RL77/80EM independent front steering axles and Bosch 8018 steering boxes. These steering boxes were manufactured with incorrect internal spacers that can cause premature wear in the connection between the steering wheel and front axle, potentially resulting in sudden loss of steering ability and increased crash risk.

Owners should not drive their vehicles until they have been inspected. DTNA will notify owners and dealers will inspect and replace the steering box if necessary at no cost. The recall began on May 31, 2016. Affected owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall number FL-712.
