What happened

Chrysler and Dodge vehicles from model years 2001-2002 (specifically Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus models with beige interiors) are affected by this recall. These vehicles were previously repaired for a recall using an incorrect part that may not properly secure the passenger side sun visor. If the passenger frontal air bag deploys while the sun visor is folded down in a certain position, the visor could detach and be propelled rearward, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.

Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will install the correct tether strap to retain the passenger sun visor at no charge. The recall began July 26, 2016, and owners will receive a second email notification when parts become available. Affected consumers should contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
