Mercedes-Benz USA and Fiat Chrysler are recalling certain model year 2005-2014 Mercedes-Benz vehicles and 2007-2008 Chrysler Crossfire vehicles due to a defect in the driver's frontal air bag inflator module. In a crash requiring the air bag to deploy, the inflator could rupture and send metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants, potentially causing serious injury or death.
Dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag module at no cost to owners. Mercedes-Benz owners should contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, and Chrysler owners should contact Fiat Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 to arrange the replacement.
