Daimler Vans USA is recalling certain Dodge Sprinter, Freightliner Sprinter, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans from model years 2007 through 2014 due to a defect in the driver's frontal air bag inflator. If the air bag deploys in a crash, the inflator could rupture and send metal fragments into the vehicle occupants, potentially causing serious injury or death.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their respective dealer to have the driver frontal air bag inflator replaced for free. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
