New Flyer is recalling certain model year bus seats equipped with Recaro Ergo-M Commercial Bus Driver Seats due to a defect in the J-Bracket. The seatbelt anchorage assembly may separate from the bracket if welds are missing, which could prevent the bus driver from being properly restrained during a crash and increase their risk of injury. The recall affects multiple New Flyer and NABI bus models from 2009 to 2015.
To address this hazard, New Flyer will notify bus owners and instruct them to inspect their seats for missing welds. If welds are found to be missing, Recaro will supply replacement anchorage brackets and cover all labor costs to install them at no charge to the owner.
