Lippert Components, Inc. is recalling certain Sway Command anti-sway tow controllers (part number 0271841) manufactured between January 5, 2016, and July 19, 2016, that were sold for use with 2014-2016 GM trucks. When used with trucks equipped with an Integrated Trailer Brake Control Module, these controllers can cause reduced braking effectiveness or complete loss of brake control while towing a trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
LCI will notify owners and replace the faulty controller with an updated controller that has correct programming at no cost. The recall began on December 5, 2016. Affected consumers should contact LCI at 1-574-537-8900 and reference recall number LCI-68-092016.
