Is my product affected?

WATEROUS SPLIT-SHAFT TRANSMISSION

  • Brand WATEROUS

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Waterous Company is recalling certain Split-Shaft Transmission Shift Units manufactured between April 9, 2015, and April 20, 2016, that are used in fire trucks and other emergency response vehicles. These shift units allow operators to direct engine power either to the vehicle's wheels or to equipment like water pumps. A damaged internal component may prevent operators from switching the power output, which could leave a fire truck unable to pump water when it arrives at a fire scene, creating a risk of injury.

Waterous will work with the vehicle manufacturers that purchased the affected shift units to remove, repair, and reinstall them at no cost. The recall began on July 22, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Waterous customer service at 1-651-450-5067.

Hazard

If the power output cannot be changed, once the fire truck arrives at the scene, it may not be able to pump water to aid in extinguishing the fire, increasing the risk of injury.

What should I do?

Waterous will notify the vehicle manufacturers that purchased the shift units and will work with them to remove, repair, and reinstall the shift units, free of charge. The recall began on July 22, 2016. Owners may contact Waterous customer service at 1-651-450-5067.
