What happened

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2013 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured between December 3, 2009, and September 1, 2012. The vanity lamp wiring in the sun visor may short circuit, which could increase the risk of a vehicle fire. Some of these vehicles may have already been subject to a prior recall for the same issue but were not properly remedied, while others have not yet been addressed.

Chrysler will notify affected owners, and dealers will perform the repair free of charge. The remedy involves installing clearance for the sun visor wiring, protection from sharp edges, and replacing the sun visor. The recall began on July 28, 2016. Owners of potentially affected vehicles should contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number R71.
