Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain model year recreational vehicles manufactured between 2008 and 2016, including Thor brand models (Challenger, Citation, Hurricane, Tuscany, Windsport, Astoria, Avanti, Chateau, Daybreak, Outlaw, Siesta, Miramar, and Four Winds) as well as Damon and Four Winds brand motorhomes. These vehicles are equipped with Lippert-brand Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps that have a bolt connecting the fan gear assembly to the steps. The bolt may fracture, causing the fan gear to disengage and making the steps unstable and unsafe to use.
The hazard poses an increased risk of injury when entering or exiting the vehicle. Dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism and replace all affected bolts at no charge to owners. The recall began on January 6, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Thor customer service at 1-877-855-2867 and reference recall number RC000111 to schedule service.
