Toyota is recalling certain 2006-2011 model year vehicles including Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Matrix, Scion xB, Highlander, Camry, RAV4, Yaris, Scion xD, and Pontiac Vibe models. The issue involves the Power Window Master Switch, where grease lubricant may not have been properly applied to sliding electrical contacts during manufacturing. Without adequate lubricant, debris and moisture can enter the switch and cause a short circuit, leading the switch assembly to overheat and melt, which increases the risk of fire.
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the affected switches. If no problems are found, dealers will apply lubricant to protect the contacts. If an abnormality is detected, the power window master switch circuit board will be replaced at no cost.
