General Motors is recalling certain 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban vehicles, and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles manufactured between January and February 2014. In these vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, causing the ignition to become stuck in the "Start" position. If this occurs, the ignition may suddenly snap back to the "Accessory" position, which can cause a loss of engine power, steering power, and braking power, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if a crash occurs, the air bags may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
To remedy this issue, GM will notify owners and dealers will replace the ignition lock housing at no charge. The recall began on November 20, 2015. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 with recall number 15573.
