Honda is recalling certain 2013-2015 Honda CBR500 and CB500 motorcycles due to a fuel level sensor defect. If the float arm inside the fuel tank separates from the sensor body, the fuel meter may display inaccurate readings or the float may short-circuit the electrical system. Either condition could cause the motorcycle to stall unexpectedly, increasing crash risk.
The float arm can become deformed and separate due to exposure to environmental and roadway conditions. Honda will replace the fuel level sensor assembly for free at authorized dealers. The recall began September 15, 2015. Affected owners should contact Honda customer service at 1-310-783-2000 and reference recall number JT1 to schedule service.
