Autocar Industries is recalling certain 2014-2016 Xpert and XSpotter vehicles manufactured between September 24, 2013, and April 22, 2015, that are equipped with specific Cummins Westport ISL G engines. The recalled vehicles may experience excessive engine crankcase pressures that can cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather, potentially allowing engine oil to contact hot surfaces and create an increased fire risk.
Cummins will notify affected owners and perform repairs at no charge at Cummins service centers. The repairs involve securing the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogramming the electronic control module with new software to adjust engine output under misfire conditions and limit crankcase pressures. Owners can contact Autocar customer service at 1-765-589-5499 or Cummins Inc. at 1-800-343-7357 for more information, and may reference recall number MDTT-01.
