What happened

Specialty Manufacturing Co. is recalling certain Transpec T6000, T6100, and T7000 series school bus stop arms manufactured between May 1, 2015, and October 18, 2015. The reflective decal on these stop arms may peel loose, which reduces visibility to other drivers and increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the affected stop arm blade assembly free of charge. Owners of affected school buses should contact Specialty customer service at 1-800-951-7867.

What should I do?

Specialty will notify the bus manufacturers that purchased the affected stop arms, and their dealers will replace the stop arm blade assembly, free of charge. The recall began on December 17, 2015. Owners may contact Specialty customer service at 1-800-951-7867.

Specialty Manufacturing Co. (Specialty) is recalling certain Transpec T6000, T6100, and T7000 series school bus stop arms manufactured May 1, 2015, to October 18, 2015. The affected stop arms have a reflective decal that may peel loose from the stop arm. As such, these stop arms fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 131, "School Bus Pedestrian Safety Devices."
