2007 FORD EDGE; 2007 LINCOLN MKX; 2008 FORD EDGE; 2008 LINCOLN MKX
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Ford is recalling certain 2007-2008 Lincoln MKX and Ford Edge vehicles that were manufactured between June 15, 2006, and September 22, 2008, and originally sold or currently registered in specific northeastern and midwestern states and the District of Columbia. These vehicles may experience fuel leaks from the fuel tank seam weld due to corrosion caused by salt water exposure, such as from road salt. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source creates a fire risk.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Dealers will inspect the vehicles at no charge and either clean and treat the fuel tank with a corrosion preventative or replace the tank entirely, whichever is necessary. Interim notices were mailed to owners on December 12, 2014, and the recall began on October 6, 2015. Ford's recall number for this issue is 14S22.
