Ford is recalling certain 2014 F-150 vehicles manufactured between March 1 and March 13, 2014, because the brake pedal position switch may be improperly adjusted. This defect can cause the brake lights to illuminate with a delay or fail to illuminate entirely, increasing the risk of a crash and violating federal safety standards for vehicle lighting.
Ford will fix the problem free of charge by adjusting the brake pedal position switch at authorized dealers. The remedy began on November 24, 2014. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 F-150 vehicles manufactured March 1, 2014, to March 13, 2014. The affected vehicles may have a brake pedal position switch that is improperly adjusted. As a result, the brake lights may illuminate with a delay or not at all. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
