Supreme Corporation is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Senator, Senator II, Candidate, Candidate II, Senator HD, and Sentinel transit buses equipped with specific Ricon wheelchair lifts (models S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510) manufactured between January 2, 2006, and April 30, 2014. The platform side plates on these lifts may crack, which could cause the lift platform to separate from the lift and fall out when the vehicle doors are opened, potentially injuring the lift operator.
To remedy the issue, Supreme will notify bus owners to take their vehicles to a Ricon dealer or service center for installation of supplemental platform support bumpers at no charge. Any platform that has already begun cracking will be replaced free of charge. The recall began in November 2014. Affected owners should contact Supreme customer service at 1-800-642-4889 or Ricon customer service at 1-800-322-2884.
